Today picket fences can come in vinyl or wood and can be many different colors. While cedar wood provides a natural look and can easily be painted, vinyl can give you the same beloved look with half the maintenance (and for a tad higher cost).

Though picket fences are known for their shortness, options still range anywhere from 3 to 5 feet.
